5 Things Businesses Can Do To Stop Climate Change

Stop climate change is real, and it’s man-made. That’s a fact. There’s already a 97% consensus about it among climate scientists.

One thing is what you can do about it on an individual level, and what governments can do on a national level.

Equally important is what businesses can do to fight climate change. After all, large corporations make up the majority of the GDP, they are the engines in developed societies. If they change, it will have a huge impact.

So what can they do? To make things more tangible we’ve identified 5 things businesses can do to stop climate change.

1. Increase energy efficiency

The first thing that businesses need to incorporate into their system is energy efficiency. Huge companies are using far more fuel and producing way too much greenhouse gases even for their primary needs.

By optimising their processes, these companies may be able to cut down emissions by 25%. Without fundamentally changing how they operate.

This is really a no brainer. Even if you don’t think climate change is real, or you simply don’t care about society and the environment, you need to optimise energy consumption to save money. It will impact the bottom line and the yearly bonuses, hurray!

2. Transition to renewable power sources

Again, the source of power and energy determines the overall production of toxic gasses to a major degree. As long as businesses stick to fossil fuels, they will constantly produce greenhouse emissions and the climate will continue to change.

In order to break this pattern, companies can try changing their energy sources to renewable and cleaner alternatives, such as alcohol for fuel, wind or solar power for electricity and so on.

Incorporating these systems on a large scale can have a significant impact on the climate and will truly help your company control its toxic emissions.

3. Control your waste disposal

Companies pour out tons of waste every year – and not all of it is safe.

Most of this waste carries toxic materials and emit greenhouse gasses too. As a company, you can control these emissions by enforcing strict waste disposal policies.

Efficient waste neutralisation, composting organic matter and reusing materials wherever possible is one efficient way of minimising your toxic waste productions.

4. Recycle as much as possible

Recycling is smart. By reusing material rather than disposing them (even though you do it with strict policies, of course) a business will lower its environmental footprint even more. And again, you can save a lot of money!

The small things matter, and putting waste to good use is a valuable way of making sure that we waste as little content as possible while producing the minimal environmental harm at the same time.

5. Get Involved

As you must be well aware by now, climate change is a big problem. Businesses need to address it as a single body. They can join together and promote green events. Perhaps plant trees. Or have a “green day”. Or invest in some cleaning practices to make up for the emissions they do produce.

Going green and making up for any harm that is being inflicted will help reduce our impact on the climate.

Working towards a greener environment will not only benefit you and your company for generations to come. It is a step that we need to take immediately!
